My Personal Creative and Unconventional Journal

Posted by Art Roy Remy on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 , under , | comments (0)

I can opt to use software like Microsoft Outlook in my laptop or in my Jasjar palmtop in organizing my daily activities but I want to do it in unconventional way. I still prefer to do it in writing.  I follow the concept of Stephen Covey which taught of scheduling life based on roles and not just in activities and most organizers fail to have features like this. And since the local organizers cannot fit my unconventional lifestyle, I opted to design and produce my own journal.

This is how it looks and of course, my entries look artistic and different from a regular journal. Unconventional scheduling and organizing that is.

Left, cover of my journal[leather cover from Starbucks]

Below, a page from journal. One page is for my random ideas. Note the portrait drawing of Bono.

Below, one of the pages which are colorfully drawn.

Below, and of course, my Dabs has made her own journal too. It was made of black pages and accessorized with butterflies and beads. Nice work. Unconventional journals.

Creative Living

Yesterday was my SMILE Day and it is the start of my LiFe Celebration Week. Creative way to celebrate life, huh? Let me share to you how I live creatively everyday and find fun and happiness in the process. I find it so fulfilling for I am not restricted by money, time or space. Everyday, I can choose to be happy because I choose to be creative. This is how I do it and may you be inspired to also enjoy your day in a creative way.

FOCUS
I always open the day with praise to my Creator and Father. I open the day in prayer and meditation. I don't do it for art's sake nor for what I can get but more of relationship. I know that being with Him in the early morning is the source of everything. I spend time in prayer, verbal positive declarations and meditation of His words. This is how I focus my mind and my heart. Then I wrote down in my records the meditations God has given me. I have proven this in my life that when I miss this morning time in meditation, I will surely loose focus for the whole day. Focus is the secret of creativity.

ORGANIZE
As for me, my creative juice cannot flow naturally when things are not in order. I cannot work in a place full of clutter. I first organize things and when needed, I even clean the house in order to organize my mind. Then I sat for awhile and plan my days through my personalized Journal.

GET INSPIRATION
Get inspiration by being positive. I always find inspiration in positivism and especially in love. Inspiration starts in the mind. What you allow to enter your mind will give you either inspiration or desperation. So be positive. Even in connecting online[Facebook, Twitter or blog] spread positivism and inspiration. When what you do doesn't inspire, it forfeits the very purpose of creativity.

BE UNCONVENTIONAL
What I mean of being unconventional is not allowing someone or other people to set happiness for you. To be happy is a choice and it is a choice how you will be happy. Get out of the box. Get out of your comfort zones. Oftentimes, you can find inspiration for creativity outside your norms. Get out and you will find many things that will inspire you.

ENJOY LIFE
Negativism and bitterness kills creativity. Enjoying life on the other hand opens all possibilities and even impossibilities. When you enjoy life, it means you appreciate the One who created you and His creative attributes will naturally flow in you.

ENJOY YOUR WORK
Whatever you do, find ways to enjoy it in a creative way. Keep trying and in trying, don't be afraid to commit mistakes. When an artist tends to be perfectionist, he cannot make any artworks and all those ideas just stayed as ideas. You must deal with your imperfections as part of your inspiration. Even flaws can contribute to the beauty of art. So, keep on trying and improving. Everyday, I keep on scribbling, drawing, writing and painting and the joy that I feel in doing them is the same joy I feel when I do my usual work.

DO SOME NEW THINGS
This can break your routine. New things doesn't have to be big and luxurious. What's important is the essence of experience.

MY LIFE CELEBRATION WEEK

Posted by Art Roy Remy on Monday, January 25, 2010 , under , , | comments (0)

This coming January 31st is my birthday and I want it to celebrate in a creative way. This week is what I call my LIFE CELEBRATION WEEK. Every day I am setting a theme of thanksgiving and it started today. I want to fill the whole week with thanksgiving and happy celebration. Celebration starts in me and I want to celebrate it in a very creative way.

So this is my Life Celebration Week.

MONDAY is my SMILE Day - A day to celebrate life and be happy at its fullest. Today, I open the day with a smile to my Father God and meet Him in prayer and meditation. I jog in the morning and smile to any person I meet and greet them "Good morning." I shared the inspiration through my blog, Facebook and Twitter about having a smile as a disposition. If you can smile at life, you can win in life. In the afternoon, I made some artworks and writings about the topic smile. We went out and made some to smile. My Dabs and I went out for a date and of course, I enjoyed today the most beautiful smile in the world- the smile of my Dabs. I scribbled and sketched all of these in my Art Diary. Today, I smiled at life.

So tomorrow and the succeeding days will be -

TUESDAY - CREATIVE Day - A Day to celebrate all the gifts and talents God has given me.
WEDNESDAY - HOPE Day - A Day to celebrate how I have comeback in life and enjoyed it to the fullest. This is also a day to be thankful of Place of Hope community.
THURSDAY - BLOODROOTS Day - A day to enjoy family and glimpse back how I was blessed with a good family.
FRIDAY - INSPIRE Day - A Day to be an inspiration to others.
SATURDAY- OTHERS Day - A Day to help others.
SUNDAY - BREAKTHROUGH Day - A Day to celebrate life in the present with all of God's love, favor and the breakthroughs He will be granting me this year.

And after this celebration, we have planned to take a vacation with my Dabs and that is LOVE WEEK for us. A vacation at the beach and a vacation in Baguio.

You can also copy this idea and make it your own even it is not your birthday week. The point is you can enjoy life in a creative way. Doing that makes you live life not in the usual way and it doesn't even take much riches and money to enjoy life. Money can never be a restricting factor to be happy when you have enough creativity and passion to enjoy life. The truth is, happiness starts in you and when you are rich in experience and positivism, money will just follow.

Celebrate and enjoy life in your own ways or ideas this week. It will give colors to your life.
I have started mine and you can follow this too.

Shout it Out [Yes, Don't Just Declare; Shout it Out- Loud]

Posted by Art Roy Remy on , under | comments (0)

One "traditional" thing that we do every new year is to shout out the promises we believed for the new year. We shout our declarations. We shout our declarations of peace, love, breakthroughs, happiness and goodness of life for the year. And we do this at exactly as the new year opens. Though we are not heard due to the barrage of noise of firecrackers and fireworks, yet it is a wonderful experience to shout it out loud celebrating the good year ahead. And looking back, I can say that what I declare every new year happens truly to us.

It is because you declare what you believe -

- happily;

- out of inspiration and not out of desperation;

- with thankfulness and positivity;

and knowing above all that you have a Father God who declared good things for you.

New year, here I come!
And so I shout it out -

The brightness of my rising!
The year of my breakthroughs!
The year of completion!
Thy Kingdom come in my life!
Spread the love out there!
Touch people's lives!
Double favor! Blessings! Prosperity!

How about you? What have you declared for your new year?

2009: The Lord has been so Good To Me/2010: I Believe There is More

Posted by Art Roy Remy on Monday, December 28, 2009 , under , | comments (0)

As the year ends and another is about to start, all I can do is bow in retrospection and in adoration of our Father God. All I can say is that indeed He has been so good to me.

And in facing the new year, this is what is in my heart.
Yes, I believe. I believe there is more.
My heart is best expressed in this song -

The Day Hope Flowed: DALOY NG PAG-ASA Event

Posted by Art Roy Remy on Sunday, December 13, 2009 , under , , , | comments (0)

Hope received ought not to be kept. It must be passed.

And this is what we did today - letting that hope flow to others. With the concept of "Daloy ng Pag-asa"[Hope Flows] together we achieved to gather more than 200 families and gave them help. It was a day of hope glowing in the faces of these recipients who were just recently devastated by typhoon Ondoy and the recent fire. Their hearts were touched as one mother said, "Pasalamat po talaga kami sa Diyos dahil tinulungan nyo po kami."[We're thankful to God you helped us.] Hearts that are willing to help united to help. It is amazing that help came from a Music Group in one Parish Church in Clitheroe, Lancashire, United Kingdom. To us as partners including other groups, to share what we can and to help also in the ways we can is but a privilege just to help other people. The volunteers like me has taken time from our usual time in our work, business and personal activities just to make this event help many. Expecting nothing but we also give free what we can in this endeavor. Yes, for the purpose of helping other people.

It was indeed a concerted effort from each of the volunteers. With the clear cause in their hearts, each one moved with compassion. From the preparation, meeting, prayer and invitation- everything was done with passion. Volunteers moved with untiring passion not wanting for any return. It is really a privilege to lead this people who are full with true love for people and for what they are doing. From Claire, Weng and Mam Elda who spearheaded the purchasing of all those groceries, the designs and printing of the tickets by Rey Naluis and Aerian, the team for invitation - Lily, Lhea, Irene, Aerian and my Dabs, the preparation of the food by Nora Mendi up to the event itself, it was a wonderful work. The two vans of the Delfins were fully utilized in fetching people as well as the vehicles of the Place of Hope church. It was also a boost when the coaster van of 3R and N tours came to help in fetching people from Santolan to Octagon. The willing men - Zotico, July, Tristan, Sonny and the drivers of the church all work as a team in organizing the fetching while the ladies prepared the groceries at the gazebo. The help of the Marcelo couple was also an inspiration.

The event started at exactly 2pm as scheduled and the Generation of Hope Kids choir sang Christmas carols to the people. It was but a short program not lasting than one hour but the most important is that they didn't just received a material gift but an eternal gift as well. Everybody accepted the true hope of their lives and that is having sure salvation in Jesus. What a combination of hope - material and spiritual. They were not just given things but they were truly given hope, salvation and inspiration.

Just to see the smiles on their faces is already very rewarding. Just to see one person found hope in spite of tragedies happened in their life is all worth the effort and the task.

Indeed, I can see, when hope flows, lives are changed. It crosses distance - from United Kingdom to Philippines. It crosses culture - Europe and Asia. It crosses religion - St. Michael and St. John Music Group and the Saints of Santolan. It crosses places - place abroad to the Place of Hope. All because we want the hope to flow freely and successfully.

And truly, today that hope was passed on.

When Hope Flows: Daloy ng Pag-asa

It was just after the successful community service last Saturday of Tricycare wherein 200 plus tricycle drivers were reached and helped that Rey and I said "So, what's next?" We're thinking already of what's next we will do as God opened it. Some Saints people also yearn to have our own community service wherein we can reach and help lots of people.

And somehow, last Sunday through the fire incident, we prayed that God will open ways and means wherein we can help those families in Santolan who were devastated by the fire and God already answered it through connection of hope.

There is one family who were helped by the Pebenito last Ondoy's onslaught and was touched by God to return the favor by helping the community. They don't want to be mentioned by name so I will give that request here in my blog. But their music group in a Parish Church in Lancashire, United Kingdom have contributed to send money to give help to those people who were devastated by Ondoy and this recent fire. And the initial plan is to help at least 200 families to be given with goods and groceries for Christmas.  And they have chosen to let that help flow through the - Saints! Isn't that amazing how God connects people? From the Parish Church of St. Michael and St. John in United Kingdom to the Saints of Santolan! All for the purpose of helping impoverished people. See how hope flows? The people in that parish affirmed that regardless of religion, they are willing to help that is why they are doing this connection. I was just so amazed how hope flows.

This is why when I was asked about the concept for this community service, immediately the idea of hope flowing strike my heart and my mind. And this was the outcome of that concept and that idea -

And I have realized, when hope flows -

1. There is no religion barrier. From the Parish church in United Kingdom to the Place of Hope and Saints 0 it doesn't matter at all. Actually even for this community service, the recipient people will be helped regardless of their religion. See, how this world will be a better place if we just go along together for this common purpose to help people? You know what binds us during Ondoy typhoon? Common bond of hope and caring. When hope flows, there is no religion barrier. What flows is the love of God.

2. There is no distance barrier. Whew? This is overwhelming. From United Kingdom to Santolan! No distance at all. Why? Because to God He sees the big picture and all of us are interconnected to each other. When hope flows, it knows no distance.

3. There is no shortage barrier. There is no shortage of finances since He promised that "all these things will be added unto you" when you seek His kingdom. There is no shortage of willing people. You don't think of helping people as expense but rather an investment to change the lives of people. You will wonder how God will move people whom you do not expect to help. It is because when hope flows, provision will flow.

4. There is no hardships barrier. We think of ways in times there are hindrances. We find ways because we want that hope flow. We don't want any self-interest purposes, impatience, disunity and selfishness clog that flow of hope. We want it to be well-planned, smoothly done and acted upon with love and passion. When hope flows, there is nothing that can stop it.

When hope flows, lives will be changed.
I am just so amazed that the Kingdom principles which the Place of Hope is studying this year is being converted by God into "On-The-Job-Training." God has opened many ways for us to focus outside and really apply what we have learned in helping other people. Kingdom is simply - helping others. And God is showing it right before our face. Just to observe that the aid is coming from United KINGDOM and it is being flowed through a church who is learning the Kingdom concepts. And God is telling us that enough of knowing. Time for doing. And here it is, hope is flowing!

Hope is already flowing, don't clog it.
Let it flow. Find a way you can help the community in any way you can.
Padaluyin natin ang pag-asa. Wag natin itong isara sa iba.

[Daloy ng Pag-asa will happen this Saturday at 2pm and we are praying that the lives of these people will be changed.]

The Day of Reaching Out to the Tricycle Drivers: BUHAY SA TATLONG GULONG

Posted by Art Roy Remy on Sunday, December 6, 2009 , under , , , , , | comments (0)

"Simula ngayon magbabago na ang kanilang pasada. Sa bawat pasada, may pag-asa."

"From now on, their tricycle route will change. In their every route, there is hope."
This is the declaration of Tricycare, Dreamworkers and other volunteers hours before the start of Tricycare Day: Buhay sa Tatlong Gulong wherein we will be touching the lives of tricycle drivers in Octagon and DelaPaz community. Sown by seeds of love, prayer, hard-work, charity-giving and compassion- at last this is the day of fulfilling the vision!

At 730am, there are no tricycle drivers yet in the venue. We gathered together in circle and prayed for the tricycle drivers claiming that this is His kingdom work and for sure He will bless. After prayer, to our heart's delight, one by one the tricycle drivers start to arrive. My imagination is different- I see every tricycle as a chariot just like in the Bible! And just a matter of minutes, the auditorium was filled with people and the parking lot was filled with tricycles! It was an amazing sight!

I was also in awe to see the works of the teams and the volunteers. I was really touched by their efforts. I am so proud of them. The zeal of Rey Naluis was relentless. He is roving in every tricycle line inviting the tricycle drivers to come. Also, just being new in the faith, there were mothers who volunteered for the work. I just realized that indeed, people will move when you give them the direction to take and a good cause to believe in. And one that really touched my heart, though I was so worried was Noel Delfin, who spearheaded the parking of the tricycle drivers though last Tuesday he was just confined in the hospital for high blood pressure! RevRoy and I tried to convince him to just take the sideline for health precaution but he can't be stopped. He continued with smile and fervor in his heart in what he is doing! Zotico and some Boys of Hope was also there with him to help him in the parking. The Dreamworkers ladies also gave their best smiles as they accommodated and welcomed every guests headed by Rizza and Irma. The give-aways and food are all taken care of by the team[Cris,Lilia and Nora] spearheaded by Connie Naluis.

At 820am, we started the program. This program is just short knowing that these tricycle drivers need to be in their terminals. Actually, the guards of the subdivisions were confused on what was happening when they saw that almost all of the tricycles were gone in the lines. They are asking "What's happening? Is there a strike?"

We presented to them the documentary film we made for tricycle drivers. The film moved their hearts and some into tears. After the video, I know it was the right time to present to them the message why there is life in three wheels or "Buhay sa Tatlong Gulong." There is life, direction and assurance only when we let Jesus drive our life. I presented that life alone can be found in Him. Hope alone in life and in life to come can be found in Jesus. It is not about religion but about relationship with Him. The Holy Spirit moved as all of them stood, prayed and accepted the Lord as their hope and salvation! It was indeed a victory day! The hope they got is lifetime and eternal. "Totoo na ngayon na sa bawat pasada ay may pag-asa."

After the program, the tricycle drivers were surprised when they received the gifts from Tricycare. They thought it will be just a free breakfast but to their surprise, there are t-shirts and grocery items! One said that for the first time in their life, they have a Christmas party like this as tricycle drivers. All those times, they just see people riding in their tricycles with their christmas food and goods celebrating from their Christmas party. But now, it's different.

Because there are people who initiated to make a difference.

As all the tricycle drivers jubilantly shouted "Sa bawat pasada, may pag-asa" you can really feel that the love of God is in their hearts now. As we meet them one by one and greeted them, they expressed their heartfelt thanksgiving.

We can see in their faces -

Hope.
Love.
Direction.

That's what represents the three wheels of their tricycles.
All because God loves them.
And we are just passing that love to them.

As they started to leave with smiles in their faces and we can hear the roaring sounds of every tricycle, it was not an annoying sound but a sweet sound to our ears. In every tricycle is a person and in every person is a family. They are going back to their tricycle line but a different person. They are going back to their families with good news. And they will say -

"Sa bawat pasada, may pag-asa."
